AaaaaaaaaaDorable

Today Devan and I took the babies over to Katie's house for a little photo shoot. We went over last week and got some super cute pics of them individually (not together because they weren't cooperating.) Here are just a few I took myself. We are incredibly grateful for Katie and her willingness to do these for us. Enjoy :o)

Lily & Ethan

April 4th, 2013 @ 5:45 in the morning....just 2 hours before these precious little angels came in to this world. I made it 38 weeks and 1 day.

Technology is amazing! First of all...without it, these 2 little babies wouldn't be here with us today. Then I stop to think about how at 7:35 on April 4th I was walked back to the O.R. and only 20 minutes later I had 2 kids. My c-section went great. It is a little odd being behind a curtain while so much is going on, but Devan did a great job giving me a "play-by-play" of what was happening. Lily was born at 7:52 am and her brother came 2 minutes later at 7:54. Lily weighed 6 pounds and they measured her at 17 inches (although we're pretty sure they measured wrong since 5 days later she measured 19 inches.) Ethan was 6 pounds 10 ounces and measured 18 1/2 inches long. They both initially scored an 8 on their apgar test, but we soon realized we had a few little hurdles to get over. Ethan was having trouble breathing so they had to put a c-pac machine on him in the nursery. He was almost admitted to the NICU but then pulled through and was able to join us in our hospital room a few hours later. Sister on the other hand was a different story. They discovered in the nursery that was having trouble keeping her glucose levels up. They ended up having to give her an IV and then admitting her to the NICU. It was really difficult to not be near her all the time, but luckily she was able to get everything under control and she joined me, Devan and brother on Saturday afternoon. Plus, having her in the nicu was good incentive for me to get up and walk down to see her. We all came home together from the hospital on Sunday the 7th.
My mom was able to fly down the Saturday after the babies were born and my dad joined us on Thursday. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do when they leave on Saturday. Well...Devan will then be with me for a week...but after that....let's just say that I'm nervous. I might not ever have time to blog again :o) We are incredibly grateful for all the love, support, meals, etc that we have received from so many friends and family. We are even more greatful that Garald & Nyla were able to stick around long enough to be a part of this miracle in our lives!!!
So far, I can say that being a mom is everything I had hoped for. The babies are almost 2 weeks old and somehow we are all still alive and doing fine. There have been a few things that have ended up being a lot more difficult than I had expected. The first is breastfeeding. How does everyone make it look so easy? I think we are getting it down, but who knows. The 2nd thing that has totally caught me off guard are the hormones. Anyone that knows me knows that I'm not a big crier. There have been several times that I have just broken down, and not necessarily for any particular reason. I also have found that I have hard time getting my anxiety under control when there are a bunch of people around. It's like me head is saying that everything will be fine. The babies will be fine, don't worry about anything....but my hormones are screaming to evacuate. I'm hoping that I will be able to reign in this crazy soon :o)
Thank you again to everyone for all your support through our trials with infertility. We are incredibly blessed!!!!!!!! Here are some pics of our little lovelies. Enjoy!
